Disco Demons - on vacation

Hiya kiddos, hope all is well. When I was reading the comments on my last post, I cracked out laughing: "Haha, I think he has been drunk since wednesday". Well, what can I say - that comment pretty much describes the situation. I scored only A's (best grades in Austria) on all my exams, definitely a reason to celebrate.

I know all of you are waiting for me to catch up with things and continue posting music, but I think y'all agree that I deserve holidays right now: I'm leaving today evening for a one-week trip on a sailing yacht in Croatia, no MacBook, no mobile phone, just partying with my ex-classmates.

Take care,
Jakob

Final Exams on July 1

Sorry kiddos, don't expect any new posts the next few days, I should be studying as I'm typing. I'm taking my final exams on July 1, comparable to British A-Level GCSEs. Wish me luck, I'll be definitely needing it, especially when it comes to Maths.

Take care y'all, see you later.

Michael Jackson & Bag Raiders

Another excellent tribute to Michael Jackson: The instrumental version of Bag Raiders' Shooting Stars (which I have always loved, by the way) mashed up with the acapella of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone. Respect to Viking and CJ Milli for getting this truly amazing mashup done so quickly.

Hold The Line, Diplo!

Thank you Boys Noize Records for this free gift: Major Lazer's Hold The Line, remixed by Djedjotronic. I guess they're feeling uber-generous right now, there's no other explanation for sharing a 40MB .aif version with us. I converted it to a 320k mp3, don't know why these weirdos are sharing a) aif files b) via youSendIt, where the download limit will be reached in a few days. Thanks, anyway.

Mongolian Mixtape Marathon

On July 11th 2009, a specially equipped off-road vehicle packed full of educational materials and clothing to donate directly to local Mongolian children in need of help, will depart on a ten thousand mile drive from London to Mongolia. Crossing Europe, central Asia and culminating with a dash across the mighty Gobi Desert, the venture is part of a unique fund raising initiative dreamt up by Alastair Sloan and Thomas MacThomas they call the Mongolian Mixtape Marathon.

Facing an incredible 800 hours driving, the team is appealing for help from the world’s DJs. In order to keep their spirits lifted and their focus sharp the duo intend listening to dance music non-stop all the way and need the nations DJs from all over the world to get involved, donating a mixtape to this non-stop, intercontinental playlist; the Mongolian Mixtape Marathon.

Raising money for Save The Children and in association with The Mongolia Charity Rally, organised by UK registered charity Go Help, each DJ will be asked to pledge a one hour mix of their favourite tunes and also make a small donation. Contributing DJs so far include Krafty Kuts, Brodinski, Ben & Lex, NAPT, Jaimie Fanatic, Miles Dyson, Nick Thayer and The Young Punx. Plus AC Slater, A1 Bassline, Aquasky, Foamo, Trevor Loveys, and The Rogue Element.

At the end of this epic journey the vehicle used will be donated to a local farming community and all DJ mixes pledged will be made available to stream or download from www.mongolianmixtapemarathon.com for at least one year as downloadable podcasts.
